A note on surjective endomorphisms of Smale spaces

We give conditions that are all equivalent to surjectivity for endomorphisms of irreducible Smale spaces. This extends results previously obtained by Hedlund~\cite{hedlund-endomorphisms} for full shifts, by Coven and Paul and by Lind and Marcus for irreducible subshifts of finite type.
